Plants and Fruits on which Zakaah is Obligatory:
The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) said:
“Do not take Zakaah except from these four: wheat, barley, raisins and dates.”
Authenticated by Al-Haakim (1/401), and Adh-Dhahabee agreed, Ibn-ul-Mulaqqin (Tuhfat-ul-Muhtaaj, 2/50), Al-Albaanee (Al-Irwaa’, 801; Tamaam-ul-Minnah, p.369; As-Saheehah, 2/540), Al-Huwainee (Fasl-ul-Khitaab, 17) and Az-Zuhairee (Buloogh-ul-Maraam, 615, 616).
It is supported by two other Ahaadeeth:
- one of which was authenticated by Al-Mardaawee (Kifaayat-ul-Mustaqni`, 792), Al-Albaanee (Al-Irwaa’, 801; Hidaayat-ur-Ruwaah, 1744), Shu`aib Al-Arna’oot (Musnad Ahmad, 22041; Sunan-ud-Daaraqutnee, 1914), Al-Huwainee (Fasl-ul-Khitaab, 17) and Al-Haithamee said: “Its narrators are those of the Saheeh.” (Al-Majma`, 3/75),
- and the other by `Abdullaah Al-`Ubaylaan (An-Nukat `alar-Rawdah, p.278).
`Abdullaah ibn `Umar said regarding the plants on which Zakaah is due: “It should be paid on dates, grapes (i.e., raisins), barely and wheat.”
