Virtues of Ramadaan and Fasting in it:
The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) said:
“When it is the first night of the month of Ramadaan, the devils are chained. The gates of the Fire are locked – not a single gate is opened, and the gates of Paradise are opened – not a single gate is locked, and a caller calls out: ‘O seeker of good, come forward, and O seeker of evil, withhold.’ And there are many whom Allaah frees from the Fire – and that is every night.”

Aboo Hurairah (radiyallaahu `anhu) narrated that the Prophet (sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) climbed upon the pulpit (minbar) and said:
“Aameen, aameen, aameen.” It was said:
“O Messenger of Allaah, you climbed upon the pulpit and said aameen, aameen, aameen?” He said:
“Indeed, Jibreel came to me and said: “Whoever catches the month of Ramadaan and does not have his sins forgiven and so enters the fire, then may Allaah distance him.” So I said: aameen. Then he said: “Whoever finds his parents or one of them and is not kind and dutiful to them, then dies and enters the Fire, then may Allaah distance him. Say aameen.” So I said: aameen.’ Then he said: “Whoever does not send Salaah upon you when you are mentioned, then dies and enters the Fire, then may Allaah distance him. Say aameen.” So I said: aameen.”’

The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) said:
“In every day and night (in the month of Ramadaan), there are those to whom Allaah grants freedom from the Fire, and there is for every slave (of Allaah) a supplication which he can make and will be granted.”

“O Messenger of Allaah, if I testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, observe the five daily prayers, pay the Zakaah and I fast and stand in Salaah in Ramadaan, then among whom shall I be?” He replied:
“Among the Prophets and the martyrs.””
