The Desirability of Al-Qunoot in the Obligatory Prayers because of a Calamity:
Aboo Hurairah (radiyallaahu `anhu) narrated that the Prophet (sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) did not perform Al-Qunoot except if he had to pray for or against someone.
Authenticated by At-Tabaree (Musnad Ibn `Abbaas, 1/329), Ibn Khuzaimah (619), Ibn Hajar (Ad-Diraayah, 1/195), Al-Albaanee (As-Saheehah, 2/240, 5/102) and `Amr Saleem (Difaa`an `anis-Salafiyyah, p.272).
Ibn `Abdil-Haadee said: “Its narrators are reliable.” (Tanqeeh-ut-Tahqeeq, 1/521). Adh-Dhahabee also commented similarly. (At-Tanqeeh, 1/221, D. Watan ed.).
Anas (radiyallaahu `anhu) narrated that the Prophet (sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) did not use to perform Al-Qunoot except if he had to pray for or against a people.”

Al-Aswad ibn Yazeed and `Amr ibn Maymoon narrated that they prayed Fajr behind `Umar (radiyallaahu `anhu) and he did not perform Al-Qunoot.”

Sa`eed ibn Jubayr narrated from Ibn `Abbaas and Ibn `Umar (radiyallaahu `anhumaa) that they did not use to perform Al-Qunoot in Fajr.”

`Alqamah ibn Qays and others narrated that Ibn Mas`ood (radiyallaahu `anhu) did not use to perform Al-Qunoot in Fajr.” And in another wording:
“He did not use to perform Al-Qunoot in any of the prayers except in the Witr.”

`Amr ibn Deenaar narrated that Ibn-uz-Zubayr (radiyallaahu `anhumaa) led them in Fajr Salaah and did not perform Al-Qunoot.”

Aboo Mujliz said: “I prayed Fajr Salaah behind Ibn `Umar (radiyallaahu `anhumaa) and he did not perform Al-Qunoot. So I said to him:
“I do not see you performing Al-Qunoot?” He replied:
“I do remember any of our companions doing so.”
